CSUCI Chorus Spring 2022
Hello University Chorus Alumni:
This is for singers who have participated in some form or fashion with the CSUCI University Chorus between 2020-Fall 2021. Please continue to read for important updates concerning the 2022 Spring Semester.
First of all, a very Happy New Year to all of you. We trust the opening days of this new year have been kind to you, and that this email finds you well and safe.
As we continue to monitor the ever changing conditions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, Channel Islands Choral Association in cooperation with CSU Channel Islands and the Pleasant Valley School District remain committed to keeping all our participants and staff in our choral programs safe. We have done this from "Day One" of this pandemic and will continue to do so. So far, the creative ideas and safety protocols we have put in place have kept us all safe. Thank you for being flexible and understanding during these months - these ideals have truly been the main ingredient of our success!
As we all know, the Omicron variant of COVID-19 is causing unprecedented rises in infections across the globe and right here in Ventura County. In an effort to continue to mitigate these infections and to keep all members safe, we are delaying the start date of our first rehearsal for non-enrolled University Chorus members. If you are currently enrolled in the course as a student of CSUCI, the start date of your first class is NOT being affected. Enrolled students should consult the CSUCI website or reach out to Dr. KuanFen Liu for course information.
For community members and staff/faculty of CSUCI, your start date is tentatively being delayed until sometime in February. Please watch your email in the coming weeks as well as the CICA website for any important updates. We are hopeful that we can resume in-person rehearsals for community members and CSUCI staff/faculty sooner rather than later, but as you know, there are many changing parameters to monitor and navigate around concerning this current virus surge.
We also would like to advise our community members that CICA's Board of Directors recently adjusted the COVID-19 Safety Protocols that govern participation in our programs. One of the most important changes is that all members are required to show vaccination proof in order to participate in all in-person rehearsals and concert performances. In addition to this change, the CICA Board is currently looking at requiring all members to additionally show proof of a vaccination booster. As we understand that vaccination is a personal health choice, we wanted to let you know of this potential addition. Again, we will advise you of any changes as they become available to us through email or on the CICA website.
Also, be advised that registration for community members and CSUCI staff/faculty for Spring 2022 will be handled online. Please watch your email for information coming to you shortly on how to register. CSUCI students registered for the course will also be required to register through CICA at some point yet to be determined.
In spite of the current situation, we are eagerly looking forward to our performance with the Channel Islands Chamber Orchestra in early June of Morten Lauridsen's "Lux Aeterna" along with another incredibly exciting choral/orchestral work that Dr. Liu will be preparing.
In the meanwhile, please stay safe, healthy and encouraged. Should you have any questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Our Best,
Dr. KuanFen Liu, Artistic Director
