“Music matters. It stimulates the brain in ways that traditional academics cannot and aids intellectual and emotional development; it’s crucial to our society and personal well-being. Yet music funding is being sacrificed across the country, our local music programs included. This is a major loss; during tough times, we need music more than ever to aid in coping with stress.

Growing up in Taiwan, I received music education on a daily basis in the public school system. Every student was encouraged to play at least one instrument and sing in a vocal ensemble throughout elementary and middle schools. After college, I was fortunate to come to the United States to pursue advanced degrees from some of the best graduate schools. The solid music foundation, inspiration and encouragement I received in Taiwan helped me excel in these music conservatories. It is my mission and passion to recreate that opportunity for the kids in the community I now call home.
